A Scandinavian built battery-powered sports car is soon to be debuted at a competition in the USA and structural adhesives from ITW Plexus were chosen to bond no fewer than 24 individual components of the car body.
The car is known as the Electric RaceAbout (E-RA) car and it was conceived by Finland-based Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. A full-size model was produced by a consortium consisting of engineering students, staff and partners from a number of automotive companies who supplied the technical know-how and materials.

Un nombre croissant d'utilisateurs adopte les matériaux composites dans le transport ferroviaire et maritime pour leur propriétés, alliant à la fois le gain de poids, la tenue mécanique et la résistance à la corrosion.
Ces matériaux sont de plus en plus utilisées dans la construction navale et ferroviaire. Cependant, ils doivent satisfaire de nombreuses exigences, notamment la sécurité incendie.
L'objet de cette journée est de vous aider dans le développement de vos produits en vous informant sur :
- les exigences réglementaires concernant la sécurité incendie dans les transports,
- comment il est possible d'optimiser la performance au feu de vos produits à l'aide des outils de l'Ingénierie de la Sécurité Incendie,
- les options techniques possibles.

Huntsman Advanced Materials is one of the first companies to offer immediate on-line REACH information to its direct customers and distributors via its new REACH web portal. The portal represents an innovative and key communications tool for the exchange of all REACH-related information and data, as well as dissemination of news, between Huntsman and everyone that the company deals with.
Every direct customer and distributor is given an ID user number to access specific information related to the completion of the REACH process. Customers can use the portal to find out about the end uses that Huntsman proposes specific to their requirements that are required for the mandatory REACH Supply Chain Communication process. Also on the site is the facility for customers to give feedback about their use of Huntsman materials.

Virtek Vision International Inc, a subsidiary of Gerber Technology, which is a Gerber Scientific Inc. company (NYSE: GRB), has announced that Aircelle UK Ltd. has awarded Virtek a contract to supply LaserEdge projection systems for their new 1,300sq/m clean-room facility which Aircelle plans to have in full production later this year. When combined with the existing clean room space, this investment will make the laser templating capacity of Aircelle’s Burnley facility, the largest of its kind in Great Britain.
Virtek’s Vice President for Imaging and Templating, Peter Richter commented that “Aircelle has been a long time valued customer. We have worked with the team at Aircelle on many occasions to bring forth solutions that fit their needs as well as their budget. We’re proud of the role we’ve played in the success of this growing facility and look forward to the challenges of the future.”
